David Budbill's first book of poems. Privately printed. At the time this book was published Budbill was heavily under the influence of both the Spanish and South American Neo-Surrealists and their American champions, most particularly Robert Bly and James Wright.The poems in this volume also reflect Budbill's involvement in the late 1960s with the work of Theodore Roethke.
The cover drawing is by John E. Johnson, who, shortly after making this drawing, took a job with WABC-TV and in 1971 became the first reporter to be allowed into the Attica Prison after the rebellion there. John Johnson went on to be come anchor of the 11:00 p.m. news first at WABC-TV, then WNBC-TV in New York City.
